So I think today was sort of the official start of fire season. It usually occurs around when the Santa Ana winds come into town. So of course there just has to be a fire today. At least this one is a good 35-40 miles away in Camp Pendleton. Some of you may remember that last year, pretty much to the day, the entire Southern California area was on fire and half a million people were evacuated (link to relevant entries here and here.) Who knows what will happen this year.
eta: WTF now apparently there is a fire nearish me (being on highway 56 in Ranch Penasquitos which is where I live) grrrr
